We believe in more knowledge and less stuff. We want to make clothes that support conscious consumption. We love fashion, but not at the expense of our environment, our time, our health, our closets, and our wallets. We want fewer clothes that work harder for us. Clothes that are organic, recyclable, anti-microbial, soft on the skin, and functional. We want to know where and how our clothes begin, and we want to recycle or reuse them at the end.
To kick things off, we're signing the Slow Fashioned Pledge. This will guide us as we embark on growing Olen to be a resource for high-quality, good-looking clothes that are responsibly produced and fairly priced. Slow Fashion is a term coined by Kate Fletcher at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion in the UK, back in 2007 and Slow Fashioned is an organization whose mission it is to "educate, inspire, and influence change in the fashion industry" by encouraging us to slow down and make more informed decisions about our shopping habits and purchases.
Please go to http://www.slowfashioned.org/ for more knowledge and to take the pledge.
Thank you, and we'll see you in the shop!
